Licensing
An Exovo system runs against a license key: it authenticates the installer, the update registry, and the periodic check-in with the license portal.
Where the license lives
The key was validated during installation and appears on Admin → Dashboard under System Information — owner, key and status (with expiry when applicable). The system checks in with the license portal periodically in the background; the same check-in is what carries your system's health summary to the portal, where you (or your reseller) can see all systems in one place.
What the license gates
- Installation and updates — registry access is authenticated by the key; an inactive license means updates stop, while the installed system keeps running.
- Capacity — the licensed simultaneous-call limit is the denominator on the dashboard's Active Calls tile.
Expiry and suspension
License problems degrade calling gradually and visibly — never silently, and never touching emergency calls:
| State | Effect |
|---|---|
| Active | Normal operation |
| Expired | Yellow dashboard banner; calling limited to 2 simultaneous calls — enough to keep a small office breathing while the renewal is sorted |
| Suspended / revoked | Red banner; outbound and inbound calling disabled except emergency calls, which always work (see emergency calling). Phones stay registered, so recovery is instant |
When the portal reflects a renewal, the system picks it up at the next check-in — no reinstall, no re-entry of the key, and the banner clears itself.
Moving a license
A license is bound to a system identity, not a machine: restoring a backup onto new hardware carries the license with it. Running two live systems on one key will surface in the portal — talk to your provider about additional systems instead.
